Find a Mentor today

與智者一次交談勝過十年學習

(Chinese Proverb meaning, “A single conversation with a wise man is better than 10 years of study.”)

You know how it is said, “Knowledge is Power”?

It is true.

Knowledge is power and much more. If you want to grow or succeed in any field of life, find a mentor. This is a powerful life-hack.

You will go further and faster if you find yourself a mentor.

What you know, your current level of wisdom is responsible for your present station in life. You see what I did there? Your station in life?

You may be stuck at this station until you find a ticket to another station. That ticket, my friends, is a mentor.

A mentor will save you the hassle, minimise your suffering and help you arrive at a desired destination quicker.

If you think knowledge is expensive, try ignorance.

If you find yourself stuck in a rut and have not seen growth in a specific desired area, it’s time to find a mentor.

Mentors may be closer to you than you think. What you need is to find someone who has been successful in the area you seek growth in. Ask them nicely to be your mentor.

A good way to find mentors is to find a book written by someone you respect, an autobiography, where they share their own experiences with you. This is another life-hack. If you are like me, you would enjoy an audiobook. Especially those narrated by the author. I recommend: 1. Be Useful by Arnold Schwarzenegger, 2. A Promised Land by Barack Obama and 3. Losing My Virginity by Richard Branson.

When you read or listen to these books. It feels like you have had a personal conversation with Arnold or Barack. Yeah, it feels like you are on first name terms with them. They reveal disappointments, the advice they got from other people and how they made a success of their own lives. I have applied some of what I have learned from mentors in my own live and what a difference it makes.

So, what are you waiting for?

Find a mentor today. Don’t even think about giving me a song and dance about how inconvenient or how expensive or how you don’t have the time and blah, blah, blah.

Just go! Find a mentor already.

Thank me later.
